Ever changing weather makes technical clothing every bit as important as your fishing equipment. All of the guides and outfitters on the TCO team travel to fish, some as far as Alaska, Argentina, New Zealand and the tropics so you can ask them what to bring to our area or to any destination world wide. Overview:
Staying warm and dry can be key to the success of any fishing trip. It's especially critical in the mountain climate of the Adirondacks. The rivers of the Adirondacks are primarily freestone and that makes the hydraulics powerful and sometimes unpredictable. Water conditions can change rapidly, rising fast and receding fast. Wading these powerful rivers is very different than most trout water. A sturdy, reliable wading stick is a must. Most times of the year, the terminal tackle used on the West Branch of the AuSable river is bigger than many are accustomed to fishing. Leaders are shorter, larger in diameter. Split shot is also bigger for the faster water conditions. Any doubts or questions, e-mail or call us at 518-946-2117.
