Latest Fishing Report
:

Stream: Penns Creek

Water Conditions:

Date of Update: 2/4/2012

Author: TCO State College Staff

Highlight: Penns is running above average but is in great shape. Thinking streamers and stonefly patterns tight to bank will produce a few fish.

Stream Level: Penns is flowing at 579 CFS. Its average is 356 CFS.

Water Temp: Upper 40's

Clarity: a bit off color

Fishing Overview: Streamer conditions are perfect but wait until that sun hits the water before you start throwing big meaty flies. Stonefly and caddisfly nymphs are a good thought for subsurface fishing as well. Wading will be tough.

Specifics and Tips: Cast streamers along the stream edges and near in-stream current breaks like submerged boulders. Nymphing with bright atractor nymphs (weenies, glo-bugs, worm patterns) and stonefly nymph may also pick-up a few fish.

Hatches: Bwo's (18-22), Midges

Conservation Note: ANGLERS VISITING OUR AREA: Specifically those of you who just fished the Delaware River (or other streams in the NY Catskill Region), the Farmington in Connecticut, or Maryland's Gunpowder River, Please clean your boots and waders with a diluted bleach solution OR hot water(must be over 140 degrees f) and laundry detergent - It must soak for at least 30 minutes to be effective. DIDYMO has been identified in these watersheds. Another option is to purchase a second pair of boots and waders to wear only in infected waters. It's the only sure way not to spread DIDYMO. Please be responsible - Don't spread DIDYMO TO Central Pennsylvania!

Click here to learn more about DIDYMO. This is a real threat to all of us!
