For some people fly
tying and fly fishing serve as a hobby
or a diversion, for others it can become
a way of life. Henry has been a fly tyer
for more than thirty five years and a
fly fisher for over thirty, having been
initially more intrigued by the art of
fly tying than actually using flies to
catch fish. Over those years Henry had
the opportunity to meet, know and learn
from many notable fly tyers from Ernie
Schweibert to Paul Schmookler who have
all influenced my own work at the vise.
Henry has been a custom fly tyer for almost
twenty five years; supplying trout and
salmon flies to fisherman traveling to
Alaska, across the U.S. and Canada, and
to the salmon rivers of Russia.
For Henry, the fascination lies in learning
improved ways to imitate nature with the
flies he creates as well as expressing
his own creativity with the styles incorporated
in the beautiful flies of old. He enjoys
tying nearly any type of fly from very
old, traditional trout flies to modern
flies with synthetics, to classic and
artistic full dress Atlantic Salmon flies.
Henry's work has appeared in a number
of outdoor publications including: "The
Art of Angling Journal", "The Mid-Atlantic
Fly Fishing Guide", "The Atlantic Salmon
Journal" and the "Game Journal".
Henry also contributes to the fly tying
ciricullum that is used in many of the
TCO educational programs. We are very
prout to have Henry as a part of the of
our education and retail team in Reading.
