Dave Gotzmer is our resident “Renaissance
Man”. A professor in the culinary
arts at Paul Smiths College, Dave is a
passionate angler and fly tier. His love
of angling history led him to tie many
of the classic flies that are a part of
the Adirondack salmon and trout lore.
Above all else, Professor Gotzmer is a
teacher. Advanced, intermediate and beginner
anglers all enjoy learning something new
from Dave. His teaching style is patient,
good humored, yet precise.
“It’s important that my clients
experience the feeling of being immersed
in the Adirondack angling traditions.
That’s why I like to start the day
in a quiet, out of the way location where
we can just imagine what it was like to
arrive streamside in the wild wilderness
of the 1800’s.” Clients benefit
from Dave’s extensive knowledge
of the surrounding rivers and streams.
The Saranac River is one of his favorite
haunts.
A day on the water with Dave Gotzmer is
an Adirondack fishing experience you soon
won’t forget. If you’re lucky,
it’s a full day and he’ll
bring lunch!
