Dan Shields
is an accomplished author, fly fisherman
and fly tyer. He has authored or is featured
in both magazine articles and books, including
the "Penns Creek River Journal".
Dan has been teaching advanced fly fishing
techniques for many years. He and Mark
Antolosky have taught the popular Nymphing
School along with many other programs.
Dan grew up in in the
area and spent an incredible number of
hours fly fishing central Pennsylvania
streams including the Little Juniata River,
Spruce Creek, Spring Creek, Penns Creek,
Big Fishing Creek, Bald Eagle Creek and
many other area streams. Dan continued
his passion for the area in his career
pursuits and was a partner in the Fly
Fishers Paradise Fly Shop. In 2007, Dan
decided to pursue additional career opporunties
outside of fly fishing, however he remains
passionate about the sport and continues
to offer his expertise through classes,
seminars and lectures. Dan also continues
to write artciles and is working on a
new book.
Dan participates in TCO
educational events, fly fishing and fly
tying classes. He is also available to
provide fly fishing presentations to and
